Anyone else attend CodeCamp? - wyrmmage - Mar 9, 2008 12:54 PM
I know a lot of people here don't live in the U.S., and I don't know if they have something like Code Camp in other countries, but feel free to comment if they do
If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a link to a code camp that happened in Boise (they all happen around the same time, I believe, and in lots of major cities in the U.S.): http://www.boisecodecamp.org
Did anyone else go to a code camp? If so, what did you think? I really liked most of the lectures I went to, but I was saddened by the fact that most of the classes mentioned nothing about cross platform support, or any platforms other than Windows, actually The exception to this was the class on Trac and Subversion, which was taught on a Linux machine, and the instructor mentioned that it was also available on Windows and Mac.
None of the door prizes or free raffle prizes were Mac oriented, or would work on the Mac either Basically it was all things like Windows Vista, and various versions of Office.
What do you guys think are the chances of getting Apple to donate some items to an event like this? Microsoft was more than willing, and I know there will be some developers programming solely in DirectX next year because they receive programming books on it for free >.>
I think it would be really cool if Apple would do the same...do they normally support things like this?
What about things like Unity, which works on both Mac and Windows....or perhaps some other program/library/tool that works either solely on the Mac, or on other platforms also (I know they exist, I just can't think of any right now, sry XD)
I'm hoping to teach a small class on developing for multiple platforms next year...who knows, maybe people will start developing more cross-platform products

Windows Vista as a door prize? Wow... I would rather be shot as a 'door prize'.
Although I guess you could sell it as an unopened box, but I don't know if I could live with that on my conscience.

Hey, Vista does come with more games than Leopard, which counts for something, right??? Nah, You're right. But hey, your wish can easily be arranged.
