Need a character!!!!!! - Buzzboy_109 - Jul 26, 2005 03:23 PM

I need a character for a game that I am working on so can someone help me figure out how to make one? I need a robot or something... Annoyed It needs to be humanoid...

Side view? Front view? Top down? Doing what?

Need a character!!!!!! - Buzzboy_109 - Jul 26, 2005 03:57 PM

I need the whole character... I just can't make up my mind so I want someone to make it for me... Or something... So if you could do all of them, that would be great...

I was able to come up with something. You didn't specify what kind of robot, or what actions he'll be doing, or how many frames of animation, or the point of view, or whether it was a 3D model or 2D sprite, or any other details about the character like poly count, sprite size, etc... so I took a few liberties and came up with a one frame, arbitrarily sized, 2D side-view robot eating a sandwich.

He doesn't have any weapons, since he's a sandwich-eating robot from the planet Quiznos IV who is on a quest to eat everything after his family was struck down by food poisoning after eating some raunchy sun-dried tomatoes.

If you decide to use this robot all I ask are royalties of 10% gross sales. For that price I can provide different poses of the robot, such as the robot eating a cheese sandwich, or the robot eating a honey bacon sandwich with extra onions and light on the mayo.

Or, if you decide not to use this robot and wish to create a character yourself, you can check out some of these links: (Requires free registration) (Chapters 7 and up for characters, although all are worth reading) (Just found this book while googling, haven't read it but it sounds cool.)

(swipes Justin's drawing)

Try They have some free models of human type things.

Justin I am tempted to ask if I can use that as a avatar! Its very amusing (literally laughing out loud right now... by myself)

What the .... I need a great 3D model of a robot that I could use in a game... Duh!!! SO... All views would be good... Back, front, sides, and bottom and top veiw... OK?

Need a character!!!!!! - OneSadCookie - Jul 26, 2005 07:19 PM

There is no "duh" about that; this is the first time you've mentioned 3D. It's scarcely a given.

There's no reason to be rude, either. Being rude when asking for help is not likely to work in your favor.

Even if you had been clear and polite from the beginning, it's unlikely that someone is just going to give you a custom-made 3D model. You can get a bunch of free Quake 2 and 3 models from , some of which are very good. I suggest starting there. Once you've got something to show for your efforts, someone might put some dedicated effort into helping you.

Hahah... JustinFic, what are the terms of use for that image? Can I link to it (with appropriate citation of course)?

That's just hilarious...

Keep it up, Justin. You could win the Graphics category this year.

Need a character!!!!!! - Hog - Jul 26, 2005 08:51 PM

do you have a graphics tablet or is this mouse-drawn?

Need a character!!!!!! - kodex - Jul 26, 2005 08:58 PM

Justin if you dont mind I would like to base a game around that picture. It has millions of options. Still laughing my A** off!

Need a character!!!!!! - AnotherJake - Jul 26, 2005 09:07 PM

That's too genius to be a mouse-drawn graphic.

What kind of question is that.
The clarity of the image signifies that is a high resolution digital camera image of an actual stick figure robot eating a sandwhich in the first dimension.

Its cutting edge stuff.
