I think it's a new trend. Starting to see a lot of "experimental" video games - Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7, Okami, Katamari Damacy, etc.

Seems like Capcom is almost on a Nintendo-like bender... which is good. Originality, trying new things, will produce for Capcom in the way another tired Mega Man came would not.
Not that I would be against a Mega Man game done right...
