Hi,

My name is Jazon Yamamoto, and I'm a long time lurker. I started programming games when I was 13 and did so as a hobby ever since (I can't believe it's almost been 10 years!). Anyway, I completed my first professional project, and I would like to share it here with you guys.

Two years ago, I came into contact with André LaMothe and after reading a tutorial I wrote, he encouraged me to write a book. After thousands of hours of planning, preparation, and execution, I finally finished writing my book. It is titled The Black Art of Multiplatform Game Programming, and you can find it here. You can find the official page here.

This book covers beginner/intermediate level C/C++ game programming on Windows/Linux using SDL, and it will release on April 16, 2014. I had lots of fun doing this, and learned ALOT. This is pretty much the biggest thing I've done in my life so far

Good luck with the book!

I might pick up a copy if you sell an electronic version. I very rarely purchase paper books anymore.

Pro tip: If you are an author, do not spell "a lot" as alot.

The TOC and concept are interesting and look solid. It seems like the book uses SDL 1.2 though? I'm guessing that's what the chapter on SDL 2.0 means.

Cool stuff, looks solid indeed. Wish I had something like this in 2004! Does the graphics chapter cover simply SDL's graphics or does it talk about OpenGL/DirectX as well?

Seems so. The book was two years in the making, and SDL 2.0 is still just a baby. (Maybe 1-2 months.) Would be really gangster if a future edition covered SDL 2.0 and covered cross platform between Mac/Win/Linux and iOS/Android.
