Apple WWDC '09
Anyone else going? Would love to meetup with some other iDevGamers.
Put me in the "Maybe to Likely" category.
Edit: I'm a confirmed attendee, btw.

I really wish I was... I think my wedding gets higher priority though.
Kyle, I'm thinking of it... just wondering, does the WWDC ticket include any meals?
With my frequent flier miles I could probably do the trip for under $2300... I'm trying to rationalize why I want to go exactly. It would at least be a business expense...

All too often, art is simply the loss of practicality.
I'm going to try pretty hard to be there, as long as my employer will let me get away for another week (at GDC now). It'd be cool to meet some more of you guys.
Karl, the last two years I was there, they provided breakfast and lunch every day and dinner/evening snacks on the days which had events in the evening, which was most of them. So yeah, food's usually not a big expense. Hope you can make it!

There is a "lunch" area at the conference, I would not recommend it but they do have "food" =)
Check out Southwest for flights $94 to, $79 returning.

The food was particularly excellent in 07 and 08. I've heard from other past attendees that it was worse before that, so if you were there earlier, you may have gotten a different experience.
I might be going. Depends on whether I get the student scholarship or not, and whether I have a job or not, etc.

Good luck on the scholarship I hear it is a great door opener.

Well... it would be if you actually chat people up.

I went to WWDC three years in a row on the scholarship. It was great and I learned a bunch but I kept to myself and people I already "knew" (some folks in here). I'm not the type of person to go chat up a complete stranger.
I always meant to go to the labs to talk to some Apple engineers, but they were always during good sessions I wanted to see!

That and I was never sure about saying: "Well here's my code. What would you do differently?" since I never had any real issues.

One of the hardest lessons I learned since writing shareware for a living has been it's all about networking. Talk to everyone you can and get your foot in as many doors as possible.
Apple engineers are friendly and they rarely bite, depending on tequila intake =)
I missed last year's so I'm definitely hoping to make wwdc09! It's $1295 until the 24th... I better mark the calendar....
Wedding?
How can this be? Your 11 years old?! What happened? I blink and Josh is now an adult. Where is the time going? Someone slow it down!
How many of you would go to WWDC if it were on the East Coast?

Southwest has really cheap flights for the dates still.

East Coast would make it more practical for me (and the rest of the UK's game devs) but the lack of game dev specific content is always an issue for me when there are more game focused conferences that are less expensive.
