I made an iphone test app for the simulator some months ago, now i finally got an ipod touch.

Do i need to go through the provisioning-code signing stuff just to try my app on my personal device?

If you mean, do you have to pay $99 to put it on just your own iPod Touch, then yes. Yes, that sucks. It should be free.

If you mean, do you then need to do really hard stuff like ad hoc, then no. Once you pay Apple the fee, it's pretty easy to generate a certificate and development provisioning profile. But yes, it has to be code signed. Maybe might not have to do that if you jail break it, but I've never looked into that, so I don't know.
