Click on the nickname of the user, a menu will show up. Click on: Send email to <username>

Some people will have their email disabled and you will not be able to contact these people privately through the forums.

@Taxxodium: Yeah, that option is not available to me. I contacted Carlos about it a while back and he mentioned that there were spam problems so he disabled it. Perhaps you still see it because you're a mod?

Yeah, I believe that is for mods only. Us lowly folks are best off googling for someone's personal page and emailing from there.
