My 2 cents is FutureBASIC which is a well respected and very fast implementation of BASIC.

Since 1st Jan 2008 it has gone freeware. It is still being developed to support Intel-Macs. 1.0 of the Intel / Universal compiler was launched on 1st Jan 2008. It has excellent OpenGL support and has toolbox access to the latest Apple's technologies.

What I like about it: easy learning curve, nice editor, easy syntax, runs really fast! :-)
