Demoscene irc mini contest
Hello!
Last night, a few of us in #idevgames decided to have a mini contest to make a demoscene. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demoscene).
Basically, you had to make a program that was visually and audibly pleasing with NO user interaction.
The contest lasted 3 hours from 11:30 BST (About 6:30 EST (?)).
Here are the results:
socksy: http://www.zen22638.zen.co.uk/ben/Weird.app.zip
aarku: http://www.graveck.com/test/Bovine%20Are...rs.app.zip
ThemsAllTook: http://www.sacredsoftware.net/temp/Demos...ex.app.zip
Corun: http://www.obfuscated.co.uk/files/Twirls.zip
Note:
It's been pointed out by Opless and NCarter on irc that "Demoscene" is the whole subculture of demo making. We were just making demos. That's a shame because calling them Demoscenes sounds so much cooler :-).

Aarku and Corun have the demo spirit, demo's need music.
I think Aarku's demo is the closest I've seen any mac program recreate a pre-life experience.
mac scene dot org keeps a well stocked archive of demos.
Post this stuff there and spread the love.

God mine does suck. Jon's rules though, and hence I guess he won?
I built mine a second time though, with decent music...

Mine could have been a lot more interesting if I'd had time to integrate some music into it. I might mess with it a bit more just for fun...

We should do more mini contests. They're always a blast.
