Combined declarations and definitions in .h file

This whole area has always given me fits. Most books on programming focus on the C or C++ anguage itself. Rarely on the surrounding glue. I've been having troubling with coming up with even search terms for google; until now:
"Separate Compilation"
that pulls up alot of good stuff in google.
