normal maps, DUDV maps, GLSL & too few texture units
all this talk of procedual texture geneation and normal map creation and so on is making me want to write an image processing language..

Why? You already have one, it's called GLSL. Not to mention Apple's CIKernel. I gather you don't have a supported GPU, but both will fallback gracefully to the CPU for you.

I decided to make my own water demo, since I was able to make a normal map. (thanks again!) Here's the thread with download and a screen. I decided not to do any fog stuff, since I was lazy. No tutorial used, BTW.
