Your favorite Photoshop tutorials
(sister thread to http://www.idevgames.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10805)
I'm interested in looking at tutorials for Photoshop that deal with creating images that would be useful for game developers (textures, maps, backgrounds, etc)
Title: "40 Photoshop Power Effects"
URL: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1...evgames-20
The point: Stepping stone for making skyboxes for 3D games
Description: My intention is to see online tutorials, but I thought posting to this book worthwhile. Click on the link above, and then click on the link "Look inside this book" Flip the pages until you come to the tutorial "Sunset." This tutorial would be really good for creating skyboxes for 3d worlds. Of course a program like Bryce can whip up skies in seconds, but not everyone has Bryce
(p.s. You can download a chapter from this book in PDF: http://infinitefish.com/40ppe-ch4.pdf)

The tutorials over att http://www.gurusnetwork.com are more than great! Googling for "photoshop tutorial" (without the quotes) typically yields very good results.
Use, the problem is time and avoiding the "How to make Aqua buttons" tutorials. If you have a direct link to a tutorial that is useful for creating a game asset, please post.

lol, all those tutorials are amazing. It does indeed take some time-experience-talent-immagination to become a good graphic designer! It's a very interesting field, much more complex than what I thought could be possible.
It's very different from programming I guess. I guess experience counts more. If you dont know how to obtain a certain effect there's no way you will find out on your own. Maybe.
