hello, again

the following is a list of the monster i am going to be using in
my MMORPG game.... im posting this for 3 reasons: (1) to help
me hopefuly finish this part in my game design Blink , and (2) to
possable help others looking for a monster/creature Matrixs for
their games Huh so this is what i got after over 50 hours of internet

That's an impressive list, but it's useless to others until we have an idea of a few more details:

- Monster HP is useless unless we know how much damage certain classes do with what weapons.

- I'd also throw in a level stat. That way we know how difficult a monster should be in relation to others. For instance, the orcs seem stronger than the ogres, but maybe the ogres have much higher defense, or something.

- Damage means nothing unless we know how much HP a typical character has: starting out, and at high levels, for all classes.

- Experience means nothing unless we know how much it takes to gain levels.

- Finally, needs more zombies. There's only two zombies and four fungi? That's not fair Rasp Make troll zombies, make alligator zombies, make cyclops zombies. If college taught me anything, it's that you can zombify anything if you put your heart (and brains) to it.

I would seriously question why are just copying all the monsters found in every other RPG and MMORPG on the planet.

Something has to be said for originality.

I'll have to remember this thread should I want to make a random monster maze generator. At least it serves as a quick database for the lazy. Smile

A word about the D&D monsters in case you were looking at them. . . just make sure you stay away from all the ones they made up that aren't a part of general mythology and stories etc, as you may already know.

But where is the interest in battling a chicken when you could be battling...

This creature from medieval heraldry has the body of an antelope, the claws of an eagle of its forelegs and the hooves of an ox on its hind legs. It symbolizes swiftness.

Okay, so you could probably do a bit better than mixing DNA from "Noah's Ark" together in a blender and spitting out something like that, but I still say it's a lot more engaging than "chicken".

I say do the spore thing... everyone starts at 0 0 0, and they all evolve depending on their actions. Giving anything experience points at the beginning of a game makes no sense, as does limiting it. If we're talking NPC's the same should apply... write the code that allows NPC's to gain experience, or make the NPC's have the right stats for a fun game based on the player's stats.

I hate having to select from a bunch of seemingly random options at the start of a game. Let people ease their way into it. Your list = constraints. The more flexibility the better.

This might seem harder, but if you're aiming high it probably isn't, and if you want to make a MMORPG that has an edge, your list is the wrong way to start.

thanks for the information so far... as for originality, well we all have to have
"basic" platform of how things are made or template, more then others Smile but
those 50 hours of searching was not to steal but to get a better idea of the
gental format of how monsters | creatures are fomulates in the gaming world
so i can better my game design and hopeful make a better MMORPG for all....
