Hello again all,

I'm having trouble with my game name
currently it's called CocoaRunner but i really don't like that much, it's "ok" i guess
but I'd prefer it be something different

the names i have above are the one's im think of right now

if you choose other, please reply with what you think it could be

CocoaRunner description: Lode Runner Clone, written using Cocoa and OpenGL

I just did a couple of quick Google searches, seems both names are already "taken":

why not play on lode?

Mother Lode
Black Lode
Darkest Lode

or just on the meaning of lode...

Shaft Runner
Mine Runner
Gold Digger

... or any one of 1000 other names that captures the game's spirit and doesn't involve the name of an API or Operating System

Or play around with synonyms of "Run":

amble, bound, break, canter, dart, dash, drop, escape, fall, flight, flow, gallop, jog, lope, pace, race, rush, scamper, scuttle, spring, sprint, spurt, tear, trot, whisk

Dash and sprint might be cool places to start.

Indeed - there are only 3 reasons I can see why you would want to use an API/OS name in a game name

1) Targetted at devs only e.g. CocoaMadRace in the 21 days contest
2) Showing off a cool piece of technology e.g. ToySight (well almost...)
3) A new version for OS X e.g. Apeiron -> Apeiron X

Any other time and you will just confuse/worry your users - "What does this game have to do with drinking hot chocolate (Cocoa)??", "Do I need to install library X?"

Now, in an attempt to be more constructive, I put in "Lode" to http://www.thesaurus.com and found a few titles that were cool

Bonanza
Eldorado (theme the game a bit?)
Pot of Gold (Lode Runner with Leprechauns!!!)
Cash Cow (figures are merchant bankers, running to get the money!)

Just a few ideas...

or go for outright punnery like game clones used to do in the 8 bit days. Make your central character an ancient Anglo Saxon supermodel and call it Woad Stunner!

Yeah, I was just thinking of how to make it safer. Change one additional letter and remove one and you get 'Lode of the Runs' which works really well as far as a play on 'Lode Runner' but has other, less savory, connotations.
