Kind of a simple, but neat thing. It's just something I whipped up a few mornings ago. Basically it's a particle system of 100000 particles running entirely in a vertex program. Maybe it'll give somebody ideas.

It's not as complex as the gamasutra article on the front page, but still effective.

Beware: Run it on a Radeon 8500 or higher (or something that has hardware support for vertex programs) or feel the wrath of 100% CPU usage and 1 FPS

Since I already ran this a few days or week ago I thought I would post my results on my Powerbook 1.33ghz 9700Pro. Not sure of the FPS but its fast and smooth. How are you guys checking FPS?
