Soccer Game
Shouldn't the old Arena Style Soccer thread have 90% of that advice and AI ideas
Yes, indeed.

heh. Ok then. I'm thinking this is what I'm going to try for... I see that the ball bouncing stuff would be tough. And the spin. Yikes! Still, the players accellerate and decellerate normally...
I think it might be a tad bit ambitious. but it sure would be fun...

Why not a foosball game? You know the game with the handles and men on the handles spinning? Easy!
Or research the thread we have here on "Button Soccer"
Here is yet another idea, that could be fun, and not too hard.
Make the players balls. Spongy type balls. So when a player/ball, jumps and lands, you see the effect of gravity. Or when they crash into the side walls, you see them smush a bit. Anyhow, the game plays like soccer, just the players are balls.
Call it "MetaBall Soccer". Whew, I'm giving away my best ideas!
Might be fun if two players from the same team collide too hard, they metaball together, which is good:
Bigger means more power
and bad:
less players/balls on the field
After a certain amount of time, they divide back.

heh, crazy! We'll see. I like the foosball idea... I think I'm going to start with the ball physics... as soon as i get back to my mac in week 1 of sept, though....
foosball for the computer has a very difficult input interface....
the best way to do it (as far as I can tell) is have 5 keys corresponding to each of the poles then use the mouse to move them up and down... this of course takes out 2 players on the same computer though

How about the slider hockey / soccer that's at real-life arcades? That would be fun, but hard to implement like foosball.

All too often, art is simply the loss of practicality.
