Sound Effects
what is a good porgram for the creation/editing of sound effects, like bangs and laser sounds and explosions, etc. etc. ?
I'm a cheapskate... try Audacity ( http://audacity.sf.net/ ) -- it's free
What about one that you can create sounds with, or that comes with royalty free sound effects?
Can anyone recomend any Program which is good for (easily) creating your own sounds, or comes with royalty free sound effects (bangs,lasers,explosions etc.)
I've already posted this at the Metal forum, but mb you guys could help out as well, cheers,

Just FYI, double posting is generally not good
For future reference, I'd recommend posting in someplace like Free Talk or Game Design. Most people check both of those boards (or the smart ones just use "View New Posts"
)

Double posting in the SAME FORUM isn't ok, but A) different ppl come here and B) by the time I thought it might be mroe apropriate in here I'd alrdy posted it in the Metal one

Has anyone tried "Garage Band", the new iLife bundle?
I was looking at Soundtrack/Garageband but I think the sound effects they come with are solely music not the kind used for games etc. unless you want background music. I could be wrong however, and If i am, please correct me.
Someone spliced the threads (good job whichever mod did that!) But seriously, two posts on one forum with the same topic/text/title isn't really needed. Most people use the "Get New Posts" function and will see the post regardless of on what board it was posted.
Moving on... I am really curious to see what people think of GarageBand? Sounds really good for poor indie devs.

yay, found my thread! yeah sorry about the double post I didn't realise there WAS a check new posts feature as I've only ever used the METAL boardÖ most stuff in the iLife package is free to D/L , right? I'm assuming Garage Band isn't like that?
I got iLife 04 last week. Only briefly tried GarageBand, but I was very impressed with it. I got a decent tune going in about 10 minutes. However entering the notes would really benefit from having a keyboard.
Note: you need a DVD drive to install it.
