Determining URL from which an app was downloaded?
Hi,
A quick question, let's say I have an application that is available for download from multiple web sites - these sites link to the iTunes store as usual. If I wanted the application to know where it was downloaded from, would this be possible?
Maybe through some sort of IP matching system through a server database? Is it even possible to determine an iPhone's wireless router's IP address?

Sounds pretty impossible to me, at least to do reliably. Off the top of my head, the best you could probably do would be to provide links to a script on your own server that logs a unique ID and redirects to iTunes. I sure can't think of a way to tie it to app downloads other than trying to correlate by time of purchase (if you can get at that info), but you'd at least know how many hits were coming from each place.
Sorry, no custom information can be transferred through the app store. Everyone gets the same app.
