performance bug in AVAudioPlayer

I switched from using Audio Queue services to play mp3s to using AVAudioPlayer and I noticed a drastic drop in the frame rate. Anyone else notice this problem? This happens on 1st gen iPod touch

That shouldn't be a problem. Did you make sure to set your session category to kAudioSessionCategory_SoloAmbientSound? (note the "Solo" in there)
