Anyone know how the new releases list works?

My lite version showed up at #1 this morning and is still there. I am not complaining by any stretch but I am confused. I usually move down throughout the day. Could just be a slow day i guess...

AFAICT new releases and updates show up chronologically by day, and in alphabetical order (per day).

There's some kind of cache system at work, so date changes and recently posted apps don't show up in the new releases right away. And the caching for the iPhone/iPod touch store is completely different than the Mac OS X iTunes store. And then yea, they're sorted alphabetically within each day.
