I'm into chess programming as a bit of a side-hobby myself (even though I really suck at chess). I should point out that this is a Mac development forum. Since your project is in the spirit of free, non-profit, and just for learning and fun, perhaps you could consider using GNU Make instead of Visual Studio so we could participate in it as well?
