Lottery game on itunes
Hi,
does anyone know if it is allowed to sell a lottery game on the ipod/iphone/itunes.
example: you have a safe lock with 6 digits. when you find the right combination, the safe will open and give you a code and an email address, where you can claim a prize. You can try as many times as you want.
do you think that kind of game would be allowed (just as an example)
cheers

Pretty sure this type of thing is not allowed. Hopefully one of the more experienced iPhone devs can weight in on this, though.

yeah, one objective would be that Apple does not want to get into bad spotlight, when the App seller does not deliver the prizes ...
I guess only virtual prizes wich would be delivered immediate would be OK.
Probably this paragraph of the License Agreement would prohibit to unlock external prizes, money etc...
3.3.3 Without Apple’s prior written approval, an Application may not provide, unlock or enable additional features or functionality through distribution mechanisms other than the App Store.

Not to mention that a gambling game would be illegal in several Countries/Territories/Provinces/States/Towns/etc

there are different kinds of gambling. not every gambling is illegal.
e.g. in Germany gambling slot machines are allowed if you cannot lose a certain amount of money per hour. Or Poker tournaments are legal, if you only have to pay the entrance fee one time, and if you can't make a buy in come back if your out... and then there are lotteries on a fair or carnivale... where you buy a ticket and you can win prizes... other forms of gambling are of course illegal, usually all kind of gambling where you can lose a lot of money per hour... like poker tournaments where you place bets on each round, or Roulette (only for casinos)...
so gambling is not equal gambling. but for Apple it is all the same. If there are real prizes or goods involved, then you have a no go
