A new build!

Leader of Mans now features boats and bears!

It's been a few weeks- things have been busy with the contract work, but I've finally secured some time to really concentrate on my entry. Two wood side-by-side will construct a dock. Place another dock on a neighboring island and drop mans on the dock. They'll hop in a boat and sail across.

It's surprisingly fulfilling to see them sail to a new island. But beware, bear! There's bears in them thar hills!

Couldn't build a dock, two woods side by side seem to make a bigger farm. Sad

Oh yeah, thanks PowerMacX.. I forgot a png in the app bundle.. oops.

I see about the dock.. you need to put the two woods side by side before hitting return. next to each other in the grid. I know it'll need some better explanation in game. Pictures!

Here's a build with several fixes.
  • You can cancel casting miracles with the Escape key.
  • You can cancel building a structure with the Escape key.
  • You can no longer build on water.
  • You can no longer make mans in water.
  • The input thing is not fixed.

Basically when you flip from the title to the Options screen, it's still checking your mouse clicks on the title screen. The title screen's quit button is about the same place as the Back button on the options screen. I started fixing this and then noticed some problems in how I manage a stack of gamestates, and the ability to go back to the previous one. I don't have time to fix, but I'll get it tomorrow.

I'm slightly concerned with how unoptimized your game was before that you're able to shrink it in half while adding more features. were you storing each pixel as a 1024x1024 texture and scaling it down?

Heh. No, I've simply removed giant textures that were never in the game, but were included in the app bundle anyway. \o/

Look skyhawk. Pixels that size take a lot of space to store them. Because of their size they can't be stored in a normal pixel either, each one has to be stored separately. There really isn't any other way around it. It's just a limitation of the technology.
