Handy build rule tip for iPhone devs

Double click your app target and add a new custom rule under the rules tab like so:

Dunno how many of you work with PVRTC images, but this should save you a bit of time. Instead of generating the textures on the command line every time, just add the source image files (yes it even works with PSDs) to your project and it will generate them at build time if they are needed or need to be regenerated.

That's pretty awesome. Is there a way to restrict it to certain files (without changing the filenames I suppose), like square textures without alpha channels?

Not directly no, but you could encode it as part of the name and match on that. The name filter is just a glob near as I could tell, so you could have "*-pvr.psd" as the filter. Then just tag the files you want compressed.
